The illustration on the shirt is based on the Antwerp urban legend of 'The Lange Wapper'. The Lange Wapper is a tormentor who emerges at night and haunts drunken people. At first, he appears as a small man, but gradually he'll make himself bigger and bigger until he towers over the houses. When the drunk, panting, and sweating, return home, Wapper looks through the windows and haunts them to sleep.
In front of 'Het Steen' you'll find a beautiful sculpture made of The Lange Wapper. Worth a visit.
